Pasok sa Dumaguete at IYAS National Writers Workshops

Nakatanggap ako ng mga liham at tawag sa dalawang magkasunod na araw noong Holy Week. Nakapasok ako sa Dumaguete (Silliman University) para sa English Creative Nonfiction at sa IYAS (University of St. La Salle, Bacolod) para sa Filipino Poetry.

Lumalabas na ngayong summer, tatlong linggo ako sa isla ng Negros na ngayon ko palang mapupuntahan.

Mula sa 48th Dumaguete National Writers Workshop:

Dear  Mr. Kimpo,

Congratulations! We would like to inform you that you have been selected for a fellowship to the 2009 National Writers Workshop to be held in Dumaguete City from May 4 - 15,  2009.

You are expected to be in Dumaguete City no later than the morning of Monday, May 4, 2009 for the opening session at 9:00 a.m. at the Multipurpose Hall, Silliman University.

The fellowship covers free board and lodging for the duration of the Workshop, and one-way fare reimbursement.

You will be met and taken to your place of lodging.

Regular Workshop sessions are held from Mondays to Fridays at 9:00-12:00 a.m. and 2:30-600 p.m. Fellows are expected to attend the sessions for the full two weeks of the Workshop.

Mula sa 9th IYAS Creative Writing Workshop:

Congratulations!  You have been selected as one of the fifteen fellows for 2009 IYAS Creative Writing Workshop to be held on April 26 - May 2 at Balay Kalinungan, University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.

The selection committee has awarded fellowships for emerging writers in English, Filipino, Bisaya and Hiligaynon in the genres of poetry, playwriting and short fiction among applicants nationwide.

As a fellow, you will be given a partial transportation subsidy of P 3,000 for those from Manila, P 1,500 from Cebu and P 500 for Iloilo.  Your board and lodging is free; however, we will not provide for your inland transportation.  Upon arrival, please proceed to Balay Kalinungan where you will be staying for the duration of the workshop.

We will have a welcome dinner for the fellows and panelists on April 26, 2009, 6:30 PM at Dr. Coscolluela's residence.  There will be a van at Balay Kalinungan to bring you to the dinner venue.  Departure will be at 6:00 PM.

Workshop proper will start at exactly 8:00 AM.  It will consist of plenary sessions in the morning and small group interactions with the panelist/s in the afternoon.  You will be assigned to a group with a lead panelist according to the language and genre of your works submitted.

This year’s panel of critics is composed of Dumaguete-based writers Ernesto Superal Yee, Myrna Peña Reyes, and Cesar Ruiz Aquino, as well as guest panelists Gemino Abad, Juaniyo Arcellana, J. Neil Garcia, Susan Lara, Rosario Lucero, DM Reyes, and Alfred Yuson.

The workshop, which is the longest running Writers Workshop in Asia, is coordinated by the Silliman University Department of English and Literature.

Dalawa ang naka-bold face na pangalan diyan dahil nakapasok din si Ynna! Syet ang saya-saya lang! Minsan ka lang makahanap ng scenario na mas maganda pa dito :D At wala nang mahihingi pa si Ynna -- pagkatapos ng successful niyang first art exhibit, nakapasok naman siya sa isa sa pinakabigating workshop sa bansa. Thank you talaga Lord.

Makakasama ko din sa IYAS ang isa sa pinakamalapit kong kaibigan, si Deborah Nieto. Congraaaats Debbbiiiieee! That makes it three Dapitdilim & LIRA writers in Negros this summer. Represent! Hehehe.

Ayun. Gud lak sa 'kin. Hectic kung hectic. Isang linggo lang ang pahinga ko pagkagaling dito sa Baguio para sa 48th UP National Writers Workshop. Di na rin ako makakabisita sa 10th UST National Writers Workshop (magbibigay daw kasi ng kaunting 'testimonial' ang mga Fellows ng 9th Workshop). Pagdating ko rin ng Maynila sa Mayo 16, marami nang aasikasuhin para naman sa LIRA -- magbubukas na kasi ang annual poetry clinic namin sa 1st weekend ng Hunyo.

At doon na pala ako magdidiwang ng aking bertdey sa Dumaguete. Hay :P
